This documentary follows the eight-year project of Dr. Steve Mrozowski (University of Massachusetts, Boston), who conducted an archaeological dig at Sylvester Manor, the first European settlement on Shelter Island, Long Island, New York. The film reveals the Dutch influence on Long Island in the 17th century, along with the importance of the trade networks established with sugar plantations on Barbados. (less)
